Seachem Alkanity Buffer - Ph and alkalinity stabilizer
Seachem Alkaline Buffer is a non‑phosphate buffering powder designed to raise and stabilise pH and increase alkalinity (KH) in freshwater aquariums. It’s especially useful if your water is too soft or acidic and you want a more stable, slightly alkaline environment.
What It Does
Raises pH: Helps increase the water’s pH up to about 7.2–8.5 when used on its own.
Boosts alkalinity (KH): Higher KH helps the water resist sudden pH swings — more stable water is healthier for fish and plants.
Non‑phosphate: Unlike some other buffers, it doesn’t add phosphates that can contribute to algae growth.
How It’s Used
Start with small doses — typically about 1 level teaspoon per ~80 L of aquarium water daily until you approach your desired pH and KH.
It can be used on its own to raise pH, or combined with an acid buffer (like Seachem Acid Buffer) to target a specific pH range more precisely (e.g., for planted tanks).
Where It’s Most Useful
Freshwater planted tanks with very soft or acidic tap water
Water change top‑off water to help keep pH stable
Tanks where stable pH is more important than chasing a precise number
Tips
Always test pH and KH before and after adding it — too much buffer at once can shift pH rapidly, which can stress livestock.
Slowly adjust over days for best results rather than doing big jumps.
In summary, Seachem Alkaline Buffer helps your aquarium water resist pH swings by increasing alkalinity and gently raising pH — great for creating a stable freshwater environment.
Salinity -marine aquarium salt mix
Salinity 2.7 kg is a marine aquarium salt mix - a specially formulated blend of salts designed to recreate natural seawater chemistry for saltwater (marine/reef) aquariums. It contains all the major minerals, trace elements and ionic balance you’d find in ocean water, but without any toxic or unnecessary components.
Preparing saltwater for marine tanks - before you add it to your aquarium you dissolve it in purified or dechlorinated water to reach the correct salinity (typically around 35 ppt or specific gravity ~1.026).
Suitable for reef tanks, fish‑only marine systems, and invertebrates, giving a stable base for healthy water chemistry.
Why 2.7 kg Matters
A 2.7 kg bucket of Salinity salt makes a useful amount of prepared saltwater (often around 75 L at 35 ppt depending on mixing).
It’s one of the more concentrated salt mixes, meaning you get a bit more usable saltwater per kilogram compared with some other brands.
How It Works
Mix with purified/RO water - never add dry salt directly to an aquarium with livestock.
Stir until fully dissolved.
Measure salinity with a refractometer or hydrometer and adjust if needed before adding to your tank.
Quick Notes
This isn’t just table salt - it’s balanced for aquarium chemistry.
It supports stable salinity and essential mineral presence in marine systems.
How much salt you add depends on your target salinity and water volume.
Cichlid Lake Salt
Cichlid Lake Salt is a specialised blend of mineral salts formulated to replicate the natural water conditions of African Rift Lakes where many cichlids come from. It’s made to provide essential minerals without harmful additives often found in generic aquarium salts.
Why It’s Used
Adds essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium, plus trace elements like iron and iodide — all important for fish health.
Helps mimic the hard, mineral-rich water cichlids evolved in, which can reduce stress and support health.
Unlike some other salts, it’s not just Epsom salt or baking soda—it’s specifically balanced for cichlid needs.
How It’s Used
You add it when:
Setting up a new tank
Doing water changes (to maintain mineral levels)It’s not for replacing evaporated water.
Dosage (per ~40 L of water):
Tanganyika cichlids: ~11 g (about 1.5 tsp)
Malawi cichlids: ~5.5 g (¾ tsp)
Victoria cichlids: ~3.6 g (½ tsp)These amounts help adjust general hardness (GH) closer to natural levels.
Important Notes
It adjusts hardness but doesn’t buffer pH so you might need a separate buffer if you want to hit specific pH target. Best dissolved in freshwater before adding to your tank.
Great for hobbyists keeping African cichlids (e.g., Malawi, Tanganyika, Victoria species) who want water chemistry closer to their natural habitats.
Tanganyika Buffer 4kg-PH Stabilizer
Tanganyika Buffer is a carbonate salt blend made to raise and stabilise pH, increase carbonate hardness (KH), and boost buffering capacity in freshwater aquariums — especially for African cichlid setups based on Lake Tanganyika water conditions. It helps replicate the very alkaline, stable environment these fish prefer.
Why Use Tanganyika Buffer?
In the wild, Lake Tanganyika has:
High pH (~9.0–9.4)
Strong alkalinity (buffering)Tanganyika Buffer aims to safely recreate similar conditions so your fish stay healthy and stress-free. It’s especially useful if your source water is softer/lower pH than what cichlids are adapted to.
What It Does
✔ Increases KH (carbonate hardness) — which helps keep pH stable over time.✔ Boosts buffer capacity — meaning water is less likely to swing wildly in pH.✔ Does not significantly change general hardness (GH).
How to Use It
Initial adjustment:Use about 5 g per 40–80 L (10–20 US gallons) daily until your desired pH is reached and stable.
Maintenance dosing:Once stable, you usually only need to add it every 2–3 weeks or with water changes to maintain pH.
Pro tip:It’s best to dissolve the buffer in freshwater first, and add it after adding any salts (e.g., cichlid lake salt).
Best For
Lake Tanganyika biotope aquariums
African cichlids that thrive in high pH/alkaline water
Water that tends to be soft or runs low in natural buffering
Caution
Raising pH too fast
Always test pH and KH regularly — don’t rely on guesswork alone.
