Pond Medic Broad Spectrum

Treat a wide range of common freshwater pond fish diseases with Pond Medic Broad Spectrum. Formulated with Potassium Permanganate, this powerful treatment is designed to combat ulcers, external parasites, and bacterial infections while also helping to temporarily clear green water.

Broad Spectrum is ideal for treating fish that are flicking or scraping against objects, showing signs of ulcers or wounds, or carrying visible external crustacean parasites such as Argulus (fish lice) and anchor worms. It can also be used as a preventative treatment at half strength to help maintain a healthy pond environment.

Important: Do not use this medication together with any other fish treatments. Always provide additional aeration during treatment, as medications can reduce oxygen levels and may affect biological filtration.

Active Ingredient

  • Potassium Permanganate in an aqueous solution

Directions for Use

Bath Treatment

  • Dose 1 ml per 30 litres of pond water.
  • Alternatively, use 10 ml per 300 litres.
  • Repeat treatment daily until the water retains a light pink colour for 10–12 hours.
  • Check the water colour using a white container or cup.

Dip Treatment

  • Add 5 drops per litre of water or 5 ml per 30 litres in a separate treatment container.
  • Dip affected fish for 30 minutes only.

Swab Treatment

  • Pour the solution directly onto a cotton swab.
  • Carefully apply to ulcers, wounds, fungus, fish lice (Argulus), or anchor worms.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes and gills.
  • Treat each wound only once, as repeated applications may damage healthy tissue.

Preventative Treatment

  • For routine prevention, use half the recommended bath dosage.

Shake the bottle vigorously before every application.

Important Information

  • Do not use alongside any other fish medication.
  • Always provide additional aeration during treatment.
  • Biological filter bacteria may be affected—reseed your filter with beneficial bacteria after completing treatment.
  • If accidental overdosing occurs, add Pond Medic Anti-Chlorine to the pond to help neutralise the treatment.
  • Individual fish may be dipped briefly in milk to help remove residual medication if necessary.
