Hailea HAP Diaphragm

Description

Hailea HAP  Diaphragm

In both Hailea HAP models, the diaphragm is a rubber membrane inside the compressor that flexes back and forth to move air:

  • As the diaphragm pulls back, air is drawn in.

  • As it pushes forward, air is forced out at pressure.

  • These movements create continuous airflow without oil contamination.

  • Hailea uses special artificial rubber diaphragms for steady output and long service life.

The diaphragm itself is the core air‑moving component in both the HAP‑60 and the larger HAP‑120.

Diaphragm Function in HAP‑60 vs HAP‑120

Feature HAP‑60 HAP‑120
Air Output ~60 L/min ~120 L/min
Pressure (Max) >0.035 MPa >0.038 MPa
Power Draw ~45–55 W ~90–125 W
Noise ~<40 dB ~<45 dB
Diaphragm Role Moves smaller/less air per stroke Moves more air faster per stroke

What This Means for the Diaphragm

HAP‑60 diaphragm

  • Sized to move about 60 L per minute.

  • Works well for medium aquariums, ponds, and hydroponics.

  • Flexes at a rate and amplitude tuned to its motor.

HAP‑120 diaphragm

  • Larger and energized by a higher‑power motor, so it moves twice the air (~120 L/min).

  • Handles higher pressure and larger systems (big koi ponds, commercial aeration).

  • Still uses special artificial rubber like the HAP‑60 for long life, just built for more capacity.

In both models, the diaphragm material and function are fundamentally the same — it’s just scaled up in the HAP‑120 for bigger airflow and pressure.

Common Diaphragm Characteristics in Both Units

✔ Oil‑free design — no contamination, safe for aquatic life.
✔ Artificial rubber construction — designed for durability and consistent performance.
✔ Steady air output — even under continuous use with minimal wear.
✔ Part of a damping and muffler system — reduces vibration and noise from the diaphragm motion.

Practical Differences

  • The HAP‑120 diaphragm must handle a higher workload (more air moved per minute), so the pump and diaphragm assembly are physically larger and paired with a stronger motor.

  • The HAP‑60 diaphragm is smaller and efficient for everyday medium‑duty use.

Summary

Both the HAP‑60 and HAP‑120 use rubber diaphragms that operate in the same basic way - flexing to pump air. The difference lies in size and capacity:

  • HAP‑60 diaphragm: smaller, moves ~60 L/min - great for moderate setups.

  • HAP‑120 diaphragm: larger, moves ~120 L/min - ideal for big ponds or commercial use.
