The Aquarium Sponge Filter provides reliable mechanical and biological filtration to help keep your aquarium water clean, clear, and healthy. Powered by an air-driven system, it creates gentle suction that traps floating debris while providing an ideal environment for beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonise the sponge.

As water passes through the sponge, waste particles are captured while aerobic bacteria naturally break down harmful substances, helping maintain excellent water quality. Its gentle filtration makes it an excellent choice for breeding tanks, fry tanks, shrimp aquariums, discus tanks, and small tropical fish aquariums.

How to Use

  1. Before first use, soak the sponge in aquarium water for 5 minutes.
  2. Connect the sponge filter to a suitable air pump.
  3. Position the filter inside the aquarium and ensure it remains fully submerged.
  4. During maintenance, rinse the sponge only with removed aquarium water. Never use tap water or hot water, as this may damage beneficial bacteria.
  5. When reinstalling, gently squeeze the sponge underwater to remove trapped air bubbles and help it remain submerged.
  6. For optimum filtration performance, replace the sponge approximately every 6 months.
