Benefits for Your Aquarium
Supports a healthy marine environment
Developed with reference to natural seawater, Aquaforest Sea Salt helps create suitable water conditions for marine fish and compatible invertebrates.
Ideal for fish-only systems
Whether you're maintaining a fish-only marine aquarium or a system with compatible soft corals, this salt provides a practical solution for routine seawater preparation.
Convenient and easy to prepare
The salt's good solubility makes mixing seawater straightforward, helping simplify regular aquarium maintenance and water changes.
Quality you can trust
Aquaforest uses two individually calibrated ICP-OES spectrometers to analyse each production batch, helping verify composition and identify unwanted contaminants.
Designed for consistent results
Carefully selected raw materials and strict laboratory supervision help maintain product quality and consistency from batch to batch.
How to Use Aquaforest Sea Salt
Follow these steps to prepare seawater for your marine aquarium.
-
Prepare the water: Start with reverse-osmosis/deionized (RODI) water at approximately 24°C (75°F).
-
Add the salt: For a target salinity of 30 ppt (specific gravity 1.022), add approximately 345 g of Aquaforest Sea Salt to 10 litres of water.
-
Mix thoroughly: Stir vigorously for approximately 15 minutes, until the salt has completely dissolved and the water becomes clear.
-
Measure salinity: Use a refractometer to check the salinity before use.
-
Use the prepared seawater: Once the salt has dissolved and the salinity has been verified, the water is ready for use in your aquarium.
Important: Always verify salinity before adding prepared seawater to your aquarium and follow the requirements of your marine livestock.
Storage and Handling
- Store the dry salt in a cool, dry, and dark place.
- Use prepared saltwater within 3 days of mixing.
- Store freshly mixed seawater in a tightly sealed container if it will not be used immediately.
- Evaporation can change water parameters, so recheck salinity before use, especially after storage.
- Keep the product protected from moisture.
- A safety data sheet is available upon request.
Quality Control and Manufacturing
Aquaforest Sea Salt is manufactured in the European Union under strict laboratory supervision, using carefully selected ingredients and a formula developed through research and seawater analysis.
To monitor quality, Aquaforest takes three samples from every 600 kg production batch. Each sample is dissolved in 15 litres of reverse-osmosis water and analysed using two individually calibrated ICP-OES spectrometers. One instrument assesses macronutrients, while the other analyses micronutrients.
This testing process helps assess batch uniformity, verify the salt's elemental composition, and identify unwanted contaminants. Analytical results are made available online for customers.
