The highly soluble formula allows seawater to be prepared quickly, making routine water changes easier and more convenient.
How to Use AquaForest Reef Salt
- Start with demineralized/RODI water at approximately 24°C / 75°F.
- For a target salinity of 33 ppt (1.025 S.G.), add approximately 390 g (13.75 oz.) of Reef Salt to 10 L (2.7 US gal) of water.
- Stir vigorously for approximately 15 minutes, until the salt has completely dissolved and the water becomes clear.
- Check the resulting salinity using a refractometer before adding the water to your aquarium.
- Once the salinity has been confirmed, the saltwater is ready for use.
Storage & Handling
- Store Reef Salt in a dry and dark place.
- After dissolving, freshly prepared saltwater should be used within 3 days.
- Evaporation can change the parameters of freshly prepared saltwater. If you are not using it immediately, store it in a tightly closed container.
- If the prepared saltwater has been stored for several days, recheck its salinity before use.
Quality Control & Laboratory Testing
AquaForest places a strong emphasis on quality, consistency, and safety. Products are manufactured in the EU under strict laboratory supervision, using carefully selected raw materials and production quantities designed to provide consistent composition.
Each 600 kg batch of marine salt is mixed and three samples are collected for analysis. Each sample is dissolved in 15 litres of RO water before undergoing ICP-OES analysis.
Two individually calibrated ICP-OES spectrometers are used during testing:
- One analyses micronutrient concentrations.
- The other analyses macronutrient concentrations.
This rigorous testing helps verify that the salt's composition remains within the required range while also checking for undesirable contaminants. Test results are made available online, providing customers with transparency and confidence in the product.
