AquaForest Purifying Resin 125ml - 250ml
AquaForest Purifying Resin is a specialist ion-exchange resin designed for freshwater aquariums, particularly heavily stocked tanks experiencing elevated nitrate levels.
The resin is designed to selectively absorb dissolved nitrogen compounds, helping reduce nitrates without removing essential minerals required by fish, plants and other aquatic life. By reducing unwanted nitrogen compounds, Purifying Resin can help improve water clarity, support algae management and potentially reduce the frequency of routine water changes.
Key Features
- Specialist ion-exchange resin for freshwater aquariums
- Designed for elevated nitrate levels
- Particularly suitable for heavily stocked aquariums
- Selectively absorbs nitrates and other dissolved nitrogen compounds
- Helps remove unwanted compounds from aquarium water
- Designed not to affect essential minerals
- Helps improve water clarity
- Supports algae management
- Can help reduce the frequency of water changes
- Reusable through regeneration
Benefits
Helps Reduce Nitrates
Purifying Resin selectively absorbs dissolved nitrogen compounds, making it an effective filtration option for aquariums where nitrate levels are elevated.
Ideal for Heavily Stocked Aquariums
Higher fish stocking can result in increased nitrogen waste. The resin provides additional chemical filtration to help manage these compounds.
Preserves Essential Minerals
The selective action of the resin is designed to remove unwanted nitrogen compounds without affecting minerals that are important to aquatic life.
Supports Clearer Water
By removing unwanted dissolved compounds, Purifying Resin can contribute to cleaner and clearer aquarium water.
Helps With Algae Management
Excess nutrients can contribute to algae growth. Reducing unwanted nitrogen compounds can help create conditions that are less favourable for algae.
Regenerable & Reusable
Once exhausted, the resin can be regenerated using chlorine-containing bleach, allowing it to be reused rather than immediately discarded.
How to Use
Place the required amount of Purifying Resin inside a fine-mesh filter bag.
- Put the resin into a suitable fine-mesh filter bag.
- Place the bag inside the aquarium's filter basket.
-
Ensure there is a constant flow of aquarium water through the resin.
- Monitor the resin for signs of exhaustion.
Capacity
125 ml treats up to 400 litres of aquarium water.
When to Replace or Regenerate
A dark brown discolouration of the resin indicates that the product is becoming exhausted.
At this point, the resin should either be replaced or regenerated.
How to Regenerate
The resin can be regenerated using chlorine-containing bleach.
-
Prepare a 50% bleach solution.
- Place the exhausted resin in the solution.
-
Allow it to regenerate for approximately 6 hours.
- Remove the resin from the bleach solution.
- Rinse the resin thoroughly.
-
Place the resin in clean water for approximately 24 hours.
- Rinse thoroughly again before returning it to aquarium use.
Ensure all traces of bleach are completely removed before the resin is returned to the aquarium.
Ideal For
- Freshwater aquariums
- Heavily stocked aquariums
- Aquariums with elevated nitrate levels
- Aquariums requiring additional chemical filtration
- Aquariums experiencing nutrient-related algae problems
- Aquarists looking for selective nitrate removal
- Systems where preserving essential minerals is important
