Aquaforest Phosphate Minus – 250ml / 1L
Keep phosphate and silicate levels under control with Aquaforest Phosphate Minus, an efficient adsorption media designed for use in marine aquariums. Its high adsorption capacity helps bind significant amounts of phosphate while supporting stable water conditions and maintaining a healthy aquarium environment.
Phosphate levels can rise as a result of excess food, supplements and other organic inputs. By effectively reducing PO₄ and silicate levels, Phosphate Minus can help prevent nutrient-related issues and is suitable for both newly established and mature marine aquariums.

Benefits
Excess phosphate can contribute to unwanted algae growth and make it more difficult to maintain balanced water chemistry in a marine aquarium. Aquaforest Phosphate Minus provides an effective way to adsorb excess phosphate and silicate, helping keep nutrient levels under control.
It can be particularly useful in aquariums where phosphate levels are elevated due to heavy feeding or supplement use. In newly established systems, it can help prevent excessive phosphate accumulation, while in mature aquariums it can assist with reducing existing PO₄ levels and maintaining more stable water conditions.
When used as part of an appropriate aquarium maintenance routine, Phosphate Minus can help support the biological balance of the aquarium and discourage conditions that favour undesirable algae and cyanobacteria.
How to Use
- Measure the required amount according to your aquarium's phosphate levels and the recommended dosage.
- Place Phosphate Minus in a media reactor for fluidised use, or use it passively in a filter sock.
- For reactor use, maintain a suggested water flow of at least 400L/h.
- Monitor your aquarium's phosphate level regularly.
- Replace the media approximately every 4 weeks, or sooner if phosphate levels begin to rise significantly.
Recommended Dosage
25–100ml per 100L (27 US gal) of aquarium water.
The appropriate dosage depends on the phosphate level and requirements of your aquarium. Start with an appropriate lower dosage and monitor phosphate levels to determine the ideal amount for your system.
Important Information
Do not rinse Phosphate Minus before use.
Shortly after placing the product into your filtration system, the water may become slightly brown or cloudy. This is caused by fine brown dust from the media. The brown material is an active phosphate remover and is harmless to aquatic life, and the colouration should disappear after a short period.
Do not rinse the media with RODI water before use, as this can reduce its effectiveness.
