AquaForest KH Buffer 1.2kg / 5kg
AquaForest KH Buffer is a carbonate hardness supplement designed to maintain stable KH levels and support balanced water parameters in reef aquariums.
Stable carbonate hardness is essential for maintaining a consistent pH and supporting healthy coral development. A sudden drop in carbonate concentration can significantly disrupt aquarium biology and may interfere with the nitrification process.
KH Buffer dissolves quickly and is easy to dose, making it suitable for both regular KH maintenance and controlled one-time adjustments.
Key Features
- Maintains stable carbonate hardness (KH) levels
- Helps stabilize aquarium pH
- Supports healthy coral growth and development
- Helps maintain balanced reef aquarium water parameters
- Dissolves quickly for easy preparation
- Easy to dose according to water test results
- Suitable for regular KH maintenance
- Can be used for one-time KH adjustments
- Available in 1.2kg and 5kg sizes
Benefits
- Helps prevent sudden KH fluctuations
- Supports stable pH conditions
- Provides carbonate ions required by reef organisms
- Helps maintain a balanced aquarium environment
- Supports coral health and development
- Convenient for both routine supplementation and corrective dosing
Recommended KH Level
The recommended carbonate hardness level for reef aquariums is:
6.5–8.5 dKH
For ongoing reef aquarium management, maintaining a stable KH level is important. Regular water testing is recommended to determine the appropriate dosing requirements.
How to Prepare the Solution
Dissolve 80g of AquaForest KH Buffer in 1000ml of RODI water to prepare the dosing solution.
Before dosing, test the aquarium water to determine the current KH level and calculate the required amount based on your water parameters and coral consumption.
Dosage
100ml of the prepared KH Buffer solution per 100 litres (27 US gal) of aquarium water raises KH by approximately 2.6 dKH.
For occasional one-time KH adjustments:
10g of KH Buffer in 100 litres of water raises KH by approximately 3.3 dKH (Alk. 1.18 meq/l).
Maximum Daily Increase
Do not increase KH by more than 0.5 dKH per day.
If a larger correction is required, spread the required dosage across multiple days.
How to Use
- Test your aquarium water to determine the current KH level.
- Prepare the solution by dissolving 80g of KH Buffer in 1000ml of RODI water.
- Calculate the required dosage based on your test results and coral consumption.
- Add the prepared solution to the aquarium.
- Monitor KH levels regularly.
- Adjust the dosing amount as required to maintain a stable KH level.
- Never increase KH by more than 0.5 dKH per day.
