Aquaforest Carbon – Activated Granular Carbon
Achieve cleaner, clearer aquarium water with Aquaforest Carbon, a high-quality activated granular carbon designed to quickly remove impurities, colouring substances, medication residues and other unwanted compounds from aquarium water.
Steam-activated for effective purification without adding phosphates, Aquaforest Carbon is particularly well suited to mixed-reef aquariums and Ultra Low Nutrient Systems (ULNS), including heavily stocked SPS coral aquariums.
Key Features
-
High-quality activated granular carbon – Efficiently removes unwanted compounds and impurities from aquarium water.
-
Steam-activated – Activated using steam rather than phosphoric acid, helping ensure the media does not introduce phosphate.
-
Improves water clarity – Removes colouring substances and compounds responsible for cloudy or discoloured water.
-
Removes medication residues – Helps eliminate residual medication and accumulated unwanted compounds after aquarium treatments.
-
Reduces coral chemical warfare compounds – Helps remove harmful substances released during interactions between corals.
-
Ideal for reef aquariums – Particularly suitable for mixed-reef systems.
-
Suitable for ULNS systems – Well suited to heavily stocked SPS coral aquariums.
-
Flexible application – Can be used in either a fluidised filter or filter mesh.
-
Available in 250ml, 1000ml and 5L sizes.
Benefits
Aquarium water can accumulate dissolved organic compounds, colouring substances, medication residues and other unwanted contaminants over time. These compounds can affect water clarity and overall aquarium conditions.
Aquaforest Carbon provides an effective way to remove these substances, helping restore a cleaner and clearer aquarium environment.
Its steam-activation process means the carbon does not contain the phosphate associated with some phosphoric-acid-activated carbon products, making it an excellent choice for reef aquariums where phosphate management is important.
The carbon is also particularly useful in mixed-reef systems, where corals can release compounds as part of their natural chemical interactions.
How to Use
- Measure the required amount of Aquaforest Carbon according to the recommended dosage.
-
Rinse the carbon thoroughly with RODI water before use.
- Place the carbon in a suitable filter mesh or fluidised filter.
- Ensure the media receives the recommended water flow.
- Replace the carbon approximately every 4 weeks for continued effectiveness.
Recommended Dosage
100ml of Aquaforest Carbon per 100L of aquarium water.
Recommended water flow: approximately 500L/h.
For example:
-
250ml – suitable for approximately 250L
-
1000ml – suitable for approximately 1000L
-
5L – suitable for approximately 5000L
Dosage may be adjusted according to the needs and conditions of your aquarium.
